Lend a Hand to Hunger

Thank you for your interest in joining Loaves & Fishes team of volunteers.  Loaves & Fishes relies on volunteers to rescue food from more than 60 area food donors and to deliver that food to one of our 101 recipient agencies.  We greatly value your contribution as a volunteer and would not exist without it.

Food Rescue Volunteers
A food rescuer picks up food donations each week from a designated donor and delivers the donations to one or more of our recipient agencies.  Loaves & Fishes staff will make every effort to schedule a route that is convenient to your home or place of employment.
  • must be 18 years of age or older
  • must have reliable transportation
  • must have a valid driver's license
  • must have current motor vehicle insurance coverage
  • must have the ability to lift at least 20 pounds
  • must be able and willing to complete paperwork accurately
  • must be reliable and trustworthy
Food is rescued seven days a week, 364 days of the year, so weekend, holiday and substitute volunteers are also appreciated and needed. Each pick-up and delivery will take about one to one-and-a-half hours.

Special Event Volunteers
Loaves & Fishes volunteers also support Fall for Greenville, the BI-LO Charity Classic and a number of other events in our area. Many of these organizations contribute to Loaves & Fishes in proportion to the number of volunteers and volunteer hours that are contributed in the name of Loaves & Fishes.

Other Volunteer Opportunities
Loaves & Fishes periodically needs volunteers to help with tasks such as answering phones, responding to customer service calls, organizing newspaper and magazine clippings and taking photographs of volunteers.  Hours would vary depending on your availability.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please download and complete our volunteer application and mail it to us. We will contact you and request that you schedule a volunteer orientation and training.
