BI-LO Charity Classic
This event, held in June, is the largest one day charity golf event in the country.
Founded in 1984, the event has donated nearly $34 million to non-profit organizations
in BI-LO’s operating area of South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
In 2007, BI-LO raised over $5.5 million and distributed its proceeds to more than
400 nonprofit organizations dedicated to hunger relief, educational opportunities
and the health and well being of children.
The support that Loaves & Fishes receives from BI-LO in the form of regular
food donations from its many local grocery stores, as well as the financial contribution
to our operating budget, are a significant reason that Loaves & Fishes has
grown to support our more than 130 recipient agencies. Visit the Bi-Lo Charity
Classic website.
Feed the Thousands
Feed the Thousands is a collaborative project of Loaves & Fishes and a host
of local corporations, churches and individuals along with 300 volunteers who
come together to prepare traditional Thanksgiving Day meals. In 2007 more than
2,600 meals were prepared, packaged and either delivered or picked up from four
different service sites: First Baptist Church
Greenville, Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of
Mauldin and Gleaning House Ministries in Pickens. Meals are delivered and carried
out to local agencies and low income housing centers.
Taste of the Nation
The Upstate's finest chefs and foodservice professionals came together April
6, 2008 to showcase incredible culinary dishes to over 750 attendees during the
2008 Taste of the Nation event held in Greenville. Taste of the Nation, the largest
nationwide culinary benefit supporting anti-hunger and anti-poverty efforts, has
been held in Greenville since 1995 and has raised over $685,000. Loaves &
Fishes and Project Host/Soup Kitchen are the local recipients of the $75,000 raised
during the 2008 event.
The 2009 Taste of the Nation will be held Sunday, April
5th at the Carolina
First Center. For more information about Taste of the Nation or to support the
